Foamy dipsticks - What do you guys think about this guys explanation?

jeudi 9 février 2017

I've had a foamy dipstick for a while now. I have an 04' with only 11k and have only owned it during the winter. I only live 10 minutes from work and typically make short trips daily. I've noticed that after a lot of short-burst driving, I did have a decent amount of foam or froth on my dipstick. After driving it hard for a longer period, it appears to go away - makes sense and I figured it was normal. Car drives fine, cold / hot starts fine, temps are fine, etc.

Today I stumbled across this guy, who is more or less claiming that the foamy dipstick is definitely abnormal and only caused by one thing - a coolant or coolant seal leak. What do you guys think about this theory? I figured if it was accurate, then most people would have fried their motors by now because a lot of people would be overheating, or have been for a while. Although I believe a coolant leak definitely contributed to this guy's foam issue, I don't think it's the only way for condensation to enter the engine. Either way, it is slightly concerning.
