Hi everybody. I'm a new owner of an 2005 RX-8 GT 6 speeds since this weekend. I went to see and drive the car and it ran great and it looks fine. It has 80 000 on the body, 20 000 at the engine, a Greddy cat-back and K&N intake. So I decided to buy it, at low price because of some aesthetic glitches.
Once all the papers are done, he gave me the key, I got in the car and... it doesn't want to start! No ignition, no lights, nothing. Few hours ago it ran fine! We decided to go to the nearest dealer to have some clues about that, but they didn't really help us. After hours of trying to fix it, considering the price I got it and the fact that it ran fine 2 hours before, I decided to buy the car anyway and get it towed to the dealer.
Today they called me, saying something fried up a wire from the ignition switch and the switch as well. Probably a short. It was not the first time the car had electrical problems since the main wiring from the fuse box was not OEM anymore and patched with electrical tape... and the ignition fuse which is supposed to be a 15 Amp was replaced with a 25 Amp... all that I didn't see when I looked up at the car. So I'm gonna pay much more for the car that I expected to.
That was the last used car I buy without having a complete check up by a trusted mechanic for sure. Hope they don't find any other serious problem. Stay tuned.
