Engine noise - belts?

Hi there,



My 2007 231PS has started making engine noises which are quite audible even from 20 metres away. I thought it was more of a ticking and now I'm thinking more of a belt issue.

If it is a belt issue can anyone confirm why this might have just started? Will I need some new belts? I read someone mentioned water pump, is that a common failure?
