How to: Replace hid ballast??

I have discovered that my HID ballast is burnt yesterday. I replaced the bulb with a brand new HID buld and it didn't turn on. :mad:.. I checked all of my fuses, they all looked fine. I hear its no uncommon for a ballast to go. Just wondering how you go about swapping out the old one with the new one cause I've noticed that you can't fit the bulb connection through the housing and I'm trying to prevent cutting and soldering, but I will if I have too.
