Hi,
I'm going to have to ask you to keep an open mind while reading this post, I assume some people will give me slack about it. Here are the facts:
I'm a 26 year old who used to ride a small motorcycle when I was 16-18. I've been driving a Fiat Punto for 6 years. I don't know anything about cars. Even worse, I do not have the time to put into a car... sounds bad, right?
Why I want an RX8:
1. I work from home and I only drive about 300 miles a month.
2. I don't care too much about gas mileage because of that.
3. I love the aspect of the car, I think it is hands down the best looking car under 20k.
Why I'm afraid of getting one:
1. I don't know anything about how to fix cars in any way.
2. I freelance during the night and sleep during the day, so I have 0 time to take it to a mechanic.
3. I only have a budget of around 5000 euros or 6500 dollars for a car.
4. I'm scared that it won't start during the winter.
5. I don't know any experienced rotary mechanics in my area.
If I do a compression test before I buy it, any chance I can get one at this price and not have to worry about spending my time in an auto shop?
There are many cars under 5k on that German site - are they all broken?
I don't like my current car, but I only had to go to a mechanic about once a year until now, maybe even less.
I love the RX8, but I'm afraid it might not be for me.
Side note: I almost exclusively drive at night and don't go above the speed limit (lame, but true), but I don't mind revving the engine until I reach it! Haha...
