Hi from Portsmouth, UK

dimanche 3 mai 2015

Hi guys, just wanna introduce myself as i got a 2006 RX8 231PS last Wednesday. My name is Datta, and am 23 years old, currently studying in the University of Portsmouth,UK. Am originally from Malaysia, and an international student here. Have been driving since the age of 17. The most powerful car that i had driven till now is my dads VW Passat 1.8T year 2013 which is 160PS. I havent really tested out the RX8 completely as i want to get it fully serviced and get a little more used to it before opening her up..Hehe...I have bought the engine oil, oil filter, transmission oil, Dot4 brake fluid, and need to order my differential fluid next, which would be Motul 90 PA. I have done my fair share of reading and knew about the need to treat the car extremely preciously to ensure the engine doesnt give up on me like it did to my friend here last year, who sold it for scrap. He did try talking me out of buying an RX8, and so did many mechanics and other car enthusiast. Well, what can i say, it was something about the complete feel of the car, which was the handling, high revving engine, 4 door yet sporty, and feeling at home kinda feel that made me stick to my decision and get it, so here i am on an RX8 forum to gwt to know fellow enthusiast such as myself to have a great time while learning all there is to know about this magnificent lady (beast). Will upload the pics, as well as the oils i plan on using. Will be changing them soon this week, as she does feel a little rough, and the previous owner said it waas around time to service. It was scratched with a key around all four doors, boot, and also the arched in the front by god knows which idiot.:'(.....Want to polish her as soon as all the service is done, using rubbing compound, followed by polish and wax as the last step. Planning on carrying out all the work myself as i love working on cars, and have serviced my own cars when i was in Malaysia. Want to order 4 jackstands off E-Bay to help keep the car flat to help working underneath and to ensure i dont overfill or underfill the oil's due to being at an angle. Gear shifts have that grinding feel to it when cold but much better when hot, and it seems to love high rpm, and hesitates on the lower range, till around 3000. At idle, there is some noise, but disappears when i depress the clutch pedal. Hmmm, thats all i can think of right now...Opps, sorry for the long post...<3 this car to bits and cant wait to enjoy her the way she deserves to be.
