Hi all,
I own a Rx8 2007 Model. I am having this little problem but i don't know if its a problem or normal case.
When my car is in neutral and i depress the clutch and put it to first, second or third gear, i hear a thump noise in the backside. it is felt on the whole car and like a transfer of energy from front to back. If i depress the clutch for few seconds and then put to to different gears then there is no thump sound.
My mechanic here told me that this is due to faulty clutch kit, so i installed new clutch, flywheel and clutch bearing. The clutch got a loft softer but the sound is still there.
Also i checked the rear axles and they are in perfect condition.
i raised the car from behind and jacked the car up. I was on the driver seat and my mechanic was under the car to monitor the noise. According to him, when i depress the clutch and then put it in first gear a little quick ( while clutch is still depressed fully), the shaft moves on its own a little and made that THUMP sound. He also told me that the noise is generated through the transmission and felt in the back area.
So guys, After all this and changing diff and tranny oil, the noise is still there but i depress for 3 seconds the noise is gone. According to my mechanic, the Shaft totally stops if clutch is depressed a little longer so no noise is generated, but if i speed shift from neutral, the shaft moved itself a little thus creating that thump noise.
Is this normal or something else is going on? Really need help, because if this is normal then will take a load of me.
