Coilover incomplete or just a pain?

We've just stuck HSD adjustable coilovers on our track RX8, the fronts are easily adjustable by just taking the wheel off, however the backs are a different story. Does anybody know if we are missing a lock ring for adjustment purposes up top? In order to increase the ride height, we need to unscrew the gold threaded body out of the black threaded base, though there is nothing to grab onto and the only green lock ring up top doesn't have anything to butt into unless being used to lock the height. Do we actually have to take the entire coilover out of the car to make adjustments? Just unbolting the bottom is a nightmare, there is no room to turn it.
