Hi everybody. I'm new to this forum and in desperate need of help.
My 2004 rx8 6 speed won't go into any gears when started. My clutch has been squeaking for about a week., I was hoping it was maybe from a combination of extreme cold Canadian temperatures and not driving for a couple days. It has happened a couple weeks ago but went away until today. The only way to get it to roll is to slam into gears or to shut it off before shifting into first, and when attempting this, it sometimes stalls or won't start, almost as if the clutch isn't fully engaging. I have no choice but to take the risk of driving it until I can get it to a mechanic. I've been high revving and using the small roads to avoid shifting so I don't cause more damage. My dad suggested checking the fluid but I'm on my own in the city of edmonton with an extremely tight financial budget, and I have very little knowledge in regards to where any of those components are located or how to do the bleeding procedure. I've owned this car for 2 years and learned to drive manual with it, so I'm almost certain that my clutch has simply worn out., But I won't know for sure until I can afford to take it to a doctor.
Also, the clutch started feeling soft when this happened, and when driving for more than an hour, everything below the shift stick would always get very hot, even when I use the air conditioner., so it wouldn't be a faulty vent. And it always had a hard time starting., even with all new battery/starter/coils/spark plugs/wires, everything except for a clutch.
If anybody has any suggestions, it'd be most appreciated.
And thank you in advance!
Mike~
