Sucking up oil into intake.

vendredi 2 janvier 2015

Hey Guys,

I've owned my RX-8 for quite some while now. After having a new engine about a year ago I noticed it started to suck up oil every now and then when I revved up real high in third/fourth gear (heavy load).

Big clouds of white smoke came out, typical oil burning looks. After waiting for the smoke to clear out and the oil to be burned out of the engine I stopped it and found everything in the intake to be smudged with oil. Yuck... :puke:

Cleaning it is a hell, the filter box (and resonator thingy attached to it) was full with oil.

After having it cleaned it happened again later. In my desperate attempt to stop it from happening again, I pulled the oil pan vacuum hose. Then I closed of the hole that this leaves in the intake hose.

I don't really have an oil catch pan yet, I even ordered one at this moment. But the catch pan is just a cheap fix in this case. It keeps my intake clean, but I don't want my oil to be sucked out overtime I step on the REX's tail.

I'm 100% positive that I didn't overfill it, I tend to keep it at 50% between MIN and MAX on the stick. Why the heck does my REX suck in oil? I even tried a clean filter because I thought it might be sucking a vacuum or something.

Thanks!
