Newbie - Rx8 non rotary swap - Ford twinscrew engine

vendredi 15 juillet 2016

Hello,

due to I'm new on the forum and don't have rights to post under the non rotary swap forum I will start here.

So the story began when I built my new engine with twin-screw supercharger. Supercharger is mount on Ford ST170 engine platform. In USA this engine is known as Ford Focus ZX3 SVT engine. It is 2.0 liter 4 cylinder engine in stock form approx 170HP...

My first goal is to study new technology of twin-screw capacity on small capacity engines. In the past I already test roots superchargers (various EATONs) and centrifugals...

So engine is completed and upgraded with components listed bellow:
PEC rods
WOSSNER forged low comp pistons
Clevite head gasket
ARP con rod studs
ARP main studs
ARP head studs
PIPER vvt delete kit
PIPER valve spring kit
Clevite H main bearings
Clevite H big end bearings
Overhouled head with match porting intake
Simens DEKA ported 1200cc injectors - Prepared by BJP race shop
Custom Fuel rail
Jenvey intake manifold
MOROSSO oil filter adapter with TORQUES remote oil filter housing
PUMASPEED cranckcase breather vent
Burtonpower lightwight flywheel
Aeromotive FPR

The plan was to built as much as possible compact engine/supercharger design.
So there is the engine with mounted supercharger:

Engine almost finished.

Supercharger have 2.6l/rev capacity with billet water cooled housing.

Therefore to test how engine will behave with such setup I need a project car so Mazda Rx8 6 speed gearbox with damaged engine was selected:

I have one Getrag 265 - 5 speed transmission on spare so custom bell housing to match engine and transmission was designed:

So far we pull engine and dashboard from the car. Car will run on stand alone management and will not be street legal. I hope engine will be on the mounts in the next couple of days.

It will also be interesting to see weight distribution at the end.
