p2070 code ssv valve

mercredi 22 février 2017

Trying to figure out what is wrong with ssv wether its solenoid or impact switch.

Got the code and went to local shop had the ssv out and cleaned. When put back in its move just fine and with snap on obd tool the valve opens and closes when not under any load. But once under certain amount of load it no longer it just gets stuck open.

Any suggestions on what to test or how much it is for a solenoid replacement.

Engine Warm Up Question

Do you guys really wait till the car it at normal operating temp before driving it or you drive it and just go easy on it meaning nothing higher than 4000 rpms until its at normal temp?

im asking because the engine warms up quicker when you drive it easy. And if you just let the car idle till its at normal temp thats more time the engine running rich and less oil at the chamber correct?

Test for signal at coil connector

Using a multimeter, how would you test for signal at the gray ignition coil connector?

Idle issues - Oxygen sensor readings

Been working on the erratic idle issue for a couple of weeks doing the following:

1) BHR ignition (was going to do this anyway)
2) New MAF
3) New E-Shaft sensor
4) Clean throttle body

Idles pretty good now (was fluctuating between 500-1300 RPM) around 820RPM.
One of the issues that was brought up as a possible cause was the upstream oxygen sensor. I put on an ODBii reader and got the following:

Mazda RX-8 Oxygen Sensor values

Doesn't look right to me as I should be seeing an upstream B1S1 and a downstream B1S2 value. Not sure what this means since the car is idling 100%
better with the above work. Anyone know what's going on?

Eccentric front UCA bushings positioned downward for more camber gain?

Based on tire wear and pryro data, I am installing whiteline front upper control arm (UCA) bushings in an effort to gain more camber. However, I started thinking about how to position them.

Full inboard would give the greatest static camber gain without a change in camber gain rate.

BUT, if I install the eccentric hole downward, that would impact static camber very little, but introduce a more aggressive gain rate as the car rolls.

Has anyone tried installing with the holes downward so that braking camber isn't affected as much, but the car gets a nice camber gain in the corners?

Main pulley torque capability?

Hello, has anyone ever looked into how much torque the main engine pulley can withstand without shearing the pins/key/bolts? This is just a curiosity I have at the moment. For instance, for those of you that have installed superchargers on your rx8, did you have to add additional pins/keys between the eccentric shaft and pulleys? Are there any figures available for how much torque the stock eccentric shaft key can handle? Is it even possible to drill/ream and add additional shear pins between the eccentric shaft and main drive pulley mount? Again I'm just curious about this topic and if anyone has ever dealt with it, thank you

{WTB} Clean Running or Not, Blue, Black, or White

I am embarking on an FD swap, and am looking for a clean roller.

I will pay top dollar, year is not important, if you have a highly modded RX8 with a blown engine. Actually, either way, running or not is fine.

I do not want red. I will entertain any other color.

Again, the more mods the better. I am willing to pay up to 10K for a completely modded out example. Realistically though, I am thinking somewhere around 4-5K for a very clean example.

PM if you have an 8 that you think would fit the bill.

Thanks :)
