Hello

I am member on rx7club.com because I own a fd3s but I would like to be a member of this forum.

Thank you

Has anyone had their RX8 do this?

I just got a new motor in the car about 300 miles ago. The other day I was driving, when I came up on a red light and the car shut off.

I went to start it, and when I did, it wouldn't start.

Eventually after 30 minutes, I went to start it again, and it started. I drove it home, and as soon as I came to a complete stop, it shut off again.

I've taken it to a mechanic, and they can't seem to find out the issue at all. They replaced parts in it seeing if that would do anything and it hasn't. The crank sensor, and coolant has been changed, nothing works.

Transmission: Automatic

Mileage: 92k... new motor was replaced about 300 miles ago.

Year: 2005

TL;DR: Basically the car just heats up quicker than normal, and when you put it in gear, it eventually shuts off.

Has anyone had this issue, and gotten it fixed before? Whats wrong with the car?

Add another Canadian

Like many, I've been lurking here for awhile trying not to get scared off from buying a 2005 RX8 west of the GTA :Freak_ani

I think I must have read 500 pages of new buyer info, debates and discussions and currently have six rx8club tabs open

I have always loved the RX7 and then the 8 but also considered the 350Z. The semi usable back seat here finally won me over. I'm OK with the mileage but have to admit, the replaced engine issue still has me just a bit on edge since the car is 10 years old and out of warranty (mileage still would have been well within warranty if it was either/or)

I'm going to have the dealer check compression and give her a through once over. The Mazda tech (not buying it from a Mazda dealer so nothing to really gain for him) actually made me feel pretty confident on this.

It's been awhile since I've had a RWD 6 speed so really looking forward to it again. I also have a custom VTX1800 motorcycle so we'll see which addiction takes me more this Summer!

Hope to meet up with some other GTA enthusiasts soon.

Research and Development

Anyone have an idea of what the numbers might be of $ put into research and development of Rotary Engine vs Piston Engine:icon5:

Odd CEL after big bump

I've got a 2004 MT with 87k miles on the original engine and maybe 30k miles on the current coils/plugs/wires (over 6 years since I got another DD vehicle 5 years ago). Just had the clutch/flywheel replaced about a month ago and have been running the RB intake for at least the last 8-9 years.

Over the weekend, I hit a decent bump on a freeway ramp and may have had all four wheels off the ground momentarily (not sure if it was all at once or in pairs, or if it even really got airborne at all for sure) which led to the CEL coming on. Code reader showed P0302 (misfire), but I didn't hear any knocking or notice any power loss for the rest of the way home. I haven't had any prior history of these kind of codes and haven't driven the car again since clearing the computer (got the taillights off to finally seal them up properly at the moment, probably won't be ready to roll again till next weekend).

Anyone ever heard of something like this?
