I bought my wife a 2005 Shinka in 2006 here in Indianapolis. It had about 3,000 miles on it. She basically drives it to and from work. It currently has about 65,000 miles on it. We take very good care of it. It has had many of the problems I have read that the RX8's have. We have dealt with each one except for the light assembly leaking thing.
The car has had problems with the rear lights and assembly since we bought it. It has always leaked in water. A local Mazda dealership told us that they could replace the whole assembly with new Mazda parts, but it would cost about $1,000.00 per side for parts and labor. They gave us the name of an auto parts place nearby Indy that sells RX8 aftermarket parts.
The auto parts place listed the assembly for $240.00 on their website. That sounds reasonable enough to me, but they only have the passenger side assembly. I haven't called them yet to see if they could find the driver's side assembly.
Does anyone out there know of a mechanic in the Indianapolis area that specializes in RX8's? Also, does anyone have a suggestion about where to order RX8 aftermarket parts?
