Hi guys, advice needed please.
04 RX8 80000 miles, no hot/cold start issues owned for a little over a year and other than brakes, tires etc I haven't had a single problem.
Then 6 weeks ago I changed my plugs, coils, cat convertor and rear o2 sensor as my Rex failed it MOT on emissions. Turned out to be a leaky back box but I needed to do the above as it was well overdue.
Everything was OK till last weekend when I needed to take a motorway journey. The engine was at operating temp as I reached the sliproad of the motorway and I began to build up speed as to join.
As I joined the CEL started blinking which I know is a misfire and this continued for around 5-10 seconds then disappeared and car returned to normal. I obviously came off at the next exit to check everything was at least visually OK and everything looked fine. I rejoined motorway and continued my journey.(had no choice needed to be where I was going) Then as I reached my destination I had to overtake a lorry so I give it a little gas.......6000rpm hit (roughly) and the car lost all power for a second and a lot of white smoke came out the back. Then on the return journey the car seemed fine.
Since then it has developed a only slight jerking whilst driving. Its not that noticeable but as the driver I can feel it. Did some reading on this forum and it seemed I am the victim of carbon build up (I admit I don't push the car too hard, something I know now that I should)
Sooo I take the car out to the nearest high speed road and aim to get it up to 6500 rpm to clear some carbon but before I can I get to roughly 50mph and the car starts shaking like its going to fall apart and it seems to be coming from the passenger side.
Shes now sat outside my house and I dont want to drive her for fear of damaging her more but I need to go to work and I have no other way.
Please help.
